What is The Right Mix – Your Health and Alcohol?
The Right Mix is a website providing psycho-educational and interactive self help resources on alcohol and substance use disorders and related problems in the veteran community.
Responsibility for The Right Mix rests with the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Why is this important?
The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) mental health policy promotes positive mental health through effective prevention, early intervention, treatment and rehabilitation as an important commitment to improving and maintaining the health and well-being of the veteran community.
The Right Mix helps to create opportunities to reduce alcohol related harm in the Australian Defence Force and veteran communities.
Who will benefit?
The Right Mix benefits all veterans, peacekeeper veterans, their partners and children.
What does The Right Mix deliver?
The Right Mix aims to create opportunities to reduce alcohol related harm in the veteran community and ensure that alcohol and related problems are addressed in an integrated way with other physical and mental health conditions and encompass prevention, early intervention, treatment and relapse prevention.
How does it work?
The Right Mix is a health promotion initiative that supports the message of achieving a right mix of low-risk drinking, a healthy diet and regular exercise.
The Right Mix website features an interactive self-assessment tool by which veterans can assess their drinking behaviour. It also provides access to all the health promotion materials and information on where veterans and their families can seek help.
What funding is the Australian Government committing?
The Right Mix is part of the Australian Government's commitment to support the veteran community.
